I love the word smashing for a couple of reasons. First, because it's one of those words that sound exactly like what it means, much like the words pop or crackle. SMASHING. It brings to mind images of vases crashing to the ground with a satisfying smashing noise. Second, I love that smashing means extraordinarily wonderful or excellent in British slang. It seemed a fitting name for what I want to convey in my portfolio. Extraordinarily wonderful design.

I decided I wanted to have a graphic element to my logo. It would make it visually more interesting, as well as way for me to create a brand identity. With only a script font as my logo, I would have to depend more on graphic elements to create a brand on my portfolio site. I wanted my logo to stand alone. If viewed independent of my portfolio I wanted it to be instantly recognizable. Elephants have long been a favorite of mine. And they're smashy.
